A response to false accusations and slander of the Freedom Flotilla by Reuters

After the false accusations that "London terrorism suspect was on Gaza flotilla ship in 2010" Stoke & White LLP that is the the law firm representing the Mavi Marmara Victims and passengers on board or otherwise associated with the Gaza Freedom Flotilla who were victims to the attack by the Israeli military in 2010 (the "Freedom Flotilla") has issued this press statement:
We write in complaint of Reuters' article titled "London terrorism suspect was on Gaza flotilla ship in 2010 - sources” published on your website on Friday 28 April 2017 at 18:07 at the following link:http://uk.mobile.reuters.com/article/idUKKBN17U2HR (the “Article”).
The Article seeks to associate Mr Khalid Omar Ali, named in the Article as man arrested on suspicion of planning a terrorist attack in London, to the Freedom Flotilla and suggests "Ali was on board the Mavi Marmara, part of a flotilla … in May 2010..."
The allegation of Mr Ali’s association to the Freedom Flotilla is categorically incorrect and it is denied that Mr Ali was on board the Mavi Marmara MV or any of the other Freedom Flotilla vessels. He is not represented on any of the formal passenger lists nor was he in any other capacity known to the Freedom Flotilla organisers at the time.
The false allegation in your Article, of the association between our client and a suspected terrorist is deeply concerning and risks harm to our client’s reputation. Furthermore, the Article appears to have be published without a request for verification or comment having been provided to the passengers or organisers of the Freedom Flotilla, contrary to recognised journalistic practices.
We insist your Article is taken down immediately and a correction published with due prominence and with our client's prior approval. Please confirm that the required action will be taken at the earliest and within 24 hours of this email. Our client reserves its right to legal remedies.
The statement has naturally, been very distressing to the victims and affected family members of the 2010 attack and so additionally, our client seeks a formal apology from Reuters to the passengers and organisers of the Freedom Flotilla together with an undertaking that the false statements complained of will not reappear in your publications or disseminated by you.
